Fellowship House residents keep busy and mentally stimulated through planned social activities. We provide games, movies, coffee hours, and other get-togethers. Holidays and birthdays are celebrated.
We encourage residents to get out of the house at least once a day to heighten their spirits and get exercise. They can window shop at a variety of nearby stores (including thrift stores). Two movie theaters, the elegant Logan Square Public Library, the Mental Health Center, the post office, and many houses of worship are within easy walking distance. During the holiday season, one neighbor has a vibrant Christmas display, visited by people from all over Chicagoland.
Many residents also partake in community services, local churches, perform volunteer work, garden, and participate in personal hobbies. We want each and every resident to achieve personal fulfillment by satisfying his/her individual interests.
WORKING LIFE PROGRAM
We offer a new and interesting “working life” program managed by an employment specialist. Residents who choose to work are assisted and encouraged to do so, even if for only a few hours a week, in a job that he/she selects and enjoys.
